Leader: Mary Finseth
LWML Mission Statement: As Lutheran Women in Mission we joyfully proclaim Christ, support missions, and equip women to honor God by serving others.
Core Values: Christian Women, In God’s Word, Mission Focused, Sisters in Christ, Servant Leaders
What does that mean? The mission of the organization is to empower Lutheran women to actively participate in spreading the Christian message through mission work, supporting global missions, and serving others, all while affirming their relationship with Christ.
How do we accomplish that goal? One way to support missions is by taking part in the mite box offerings. Based on the Biblical account of the widow's mite (Luke 21:1–4), the Mite Box is intended for regular contributions of "mites" — offerings above and beyond the support given to congregations and the LCMS. Mite Box contributions amount to millions of dollars that fund district and national mission grants and implement the LWML program. Delegates at the conventions vote on which missions to support. On the LWML bulletin board (east end of hall) you’ll see the current choices for this biennial time frame. 75% of your mite donation stays in the North District.
Does the group meet in person? On the first Thursday of the month @ 1:30PM in the Our Redeemer church basement for Bible Study, Devotions and of course a treat! Meetings are held January through May and September through December. It is by hearing the word of God and networking with each other that we gain strength in faith.
Zone 9 has a spring and fall rally. These are rotated at different churches in our zone. It is an excellent opportunity to broaden our knowledge, ask questions, and gain benefit to see what God has planned for us.
Our Redeemer congregation is an integral part of Zone 9 of the North Wisconsin District of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. (LWML). The organization is open to all in the congregation.
